Dear Friend of PODER PAC,

Join our campaign #LatinasWin2014
We NEED your help! Our community continues to grow in size and purchasing power, however, Latinas remain underrepresented in Congress where important decisions are made everyday. Of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives Latina Democrats represent 7 seats thats less than 2%! We have never had a Latina serve in the US Senate. With your help we can change these dismal numbers and increase our representation in Congress.

This election cycle PODER PAC endorsed and contributed to four Latina Congressional candidates and two Lt. Governor candidates.

Lucy Flores  State Representative is running for Lt. Governor for the state Nevada. Upon her election, Lucy joined three other Hispanic females in becoming the first Hispanic women to serve in the Nevada legislature. She currently serves as the Assistant Majority Whip, Vice-Chair of the Legislative Operations and Elections committee, and member of the Transportation, and Ways and Means committees. She is also actively involved in growing the Nevada Hispanic Legislative Caucus.

Rocky Lara is a candidate for US Congress, 2nd District of New Mexico.  A long-time community leader, Lara served the Mayor of Carlsbad as the Co-Chairman of his Long-Range Planning Committee and is a current member of his Nuclear Task Force. Lara has served as Past Chairman of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and Past Chairman of the Eddy County DWI Council in addition to many boards and committees. Regionally, Lara has served with the Board of Directors for the Southeast Community Action Corporation, addressing HeadStart and senior programs needs in five counties.

Eloise Reyes is running for the US Congress 31st District of California. As a small business owner for over two decades, Eloise has met a payroll and navigated government red tape while standing up and fighting for clients who could not fight for themselves. She recently represented a group of residents on the south side of Colton in their fight against a toxic dump site planned near their low income housing project. Eloise brought together local community groups and defeated the planned toxic dump.

Amanda Renteria is running for the US Congress 21st District of California.  Amanda was born and raised in Woodlake, California, a small town located in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley. She is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant farmworker.
Amanda is the mother of two young boys, a former high school teacher, and the first Latina in history to serve as Chief of Staff in the United States Senate. She is a pro-growth Democrat with private sector work experience, a Master’s degree from Harvard Business School, and a proven track record spearheading effective economic and agriculture policy.

Norma Torres is running for the US Congress 35th District of California. Senator Norma J. Torres was elected to represent the 32nd Senate District which includes Bloomington, Chino, Colton, Fontana, Montclair, Muscoy, Ontario, Pomona, Rialto, and San Bernardino. She previously served as a State Assemblywoman, Pomona City Council, and Pomona Mayor. An advocate for common sense solutions, Torres has championed legislation making California government more responsive to the needs of working families, children and seniors in the Inland Empire.

Leticia Van de Putte is running for Lt. Governor, for the State of Texas. Leticia Van de Putte has proudly represented the people of San Antonio at the Texas Legislature since 1991. A practicing pharmacist since 1980, Senator Van de Putte represents a large portion of San Antonio and Bexar County. A former-five term state representative, she has represented Texas Senate District 26 since 1999. On January 8, 2013, she was unanimously elected by her colleagues to serve as President Pro Tempore of the Texas Senate’s 83rd Regular Session.
We are also pleased to announce that another one of our endorsed candidates this cycle, Annette Quijano has been elected to represent the 20th Legislative District of New Jersey where she continues to be a tireless advocate for a broad range of issues that improve opportunities for those in her district.

Please DONATE now what ever you can do will help us support more Latinas for elected office and change the face of politics. We know that when Latinas win we win and our country is stronger.

Please forward this email to your networks and ask your friends to donate as well.  To learn more about PODER PAC and for updates visit our website.  Follow us on FaceBook and Twitter
